1. General Terms

By using our website or booking an MOT test with Don Valley MOT Centre, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. Please read them carefully.

We reserve the right to update these terms at any time. Continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of any changes.

2. MOT Testing Services

2.1 Service Description

We provide Class 4 MOT testing services for:

  • Cars (with up to 8 passenger seats)
  • Small vans (up to 3,000kg)
  • Motorhomes (up to 3,000kg)

2.2 DVSA Standards

All MOT tests are conducted in accordance with DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency) regulations and standards.

3. Bookings

3.1 Online Booking

Online bookings are requests and not confirmed until we contact you. We will confirm your appointment within 24 hours (Monday-Friday) or on the next business day for weekend bookings.

3.2 Cancellation & Rescheduling

  • You may cancel or reschedule free of charge with at least 24 hours' notice
  • Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice may incur a £20 fee
  • No-shows without notice will be charged the full MOT fee

3.3 Late Arrivals

Please arrive on time for your appointment. Late arrivals may result in rescheduling to the next available slot.

4. Pricing & Payment

4.1 MOT Fees

  • Pre-booked MOT: £30 (book at least 1 day in advance)
  • Walk-in MOT: £45 (subject to availability)

4.2 Payment Terms

  • Payment is due upon completion of the MOT test
  • We accept cash, debit cards, and credit cards
  • No payment is taken at the time of booking

4.3 Additional Work

If your vehicle requires repairs to pass the MOT, we will provide a quote before proceeding with any work. You are not obligated to have repairs done at our garage.

5. Test Requirements

5.1 Vehicle Condition

You must ensure your vehicle:

  • Is safe to test (adequate fuel, no serious defects)
  • Has valid insurance and is road legal
  • Is clean enough for inspection (especially underneath)
  • Has working speedometer and fuel gauge

5.2 Required Documents

  • V5C registration document (logbook) - preferred but not essential
  • Previous MOT certificate (if applicable)

5.3 Test Refusal

We reserve the right to refuse to test any vehicle that we deem unsafe or unsuitable for testing.

6. Test Results

6.1 Pass Certificate

If your vehicle passes, you'll receive an MOT certificate valid for 12 months. The certificate will be uploaded to the DVSA database automatically.

6.2 Failure

If your vehicle fails, you'll receive:

  • A detailed failure certificate explaining the issues
  • Advice on what needs to be repaired
  • 10 working days to get repairs done and bring it back for a free retest (partial retest only)

6.3 Retests

  • Free retest within 10 working days if we do the repairs
  • Free partial retest within 10 working days if repairs are done elsewhere (must show receipts)
  • Full fee charged for retests after 10 working days

7. MOT Reminder Service

7.1 Service Description

Our free MOT reminder service will email you approximately 1 month before your MOT expires.

7.2 Accuracy

While we make every effort to send reminders accurately, we cannot guarantee delivery. It is your responsibility to ensure your vehicle has a valid MOT.

7.3 Unsubscribe

You may unsubscribe from MOT reminders at any time by replying to any reminder email or contacting us directly.

8. Liability

8.1 During Testing

While we take care when handling your vehicle, we are not liable for:

  • Pre-existing damage or defects
  • Damage that occurs due to the vehicle's poor condition
  • Personal items left in the vehicle

8.2 Test Accuracy

Our MOT tests are conducted to DVSA standards. However, an MOT pass does not guarantee your vehicle is roadworthy or free from defects - it only confirms it met the minimum legal standards on the day of the test.
